Description
Prophecy Island is an open world roguelike RPG where every playthrough is different, with new adventures every run. A curse has been spreading across the island for as long as anyone can remember, and an ancient prophecy tells of the one who will end it. Seven factions each believe the prophecy is theirs to fulfill — the player chooses whose side to take.
When a run ends, the island is born anew: its layout, main storyline and side quests are procedurally remixed, so no two attempts at the prophecy play out the same way. Combat is deliberate and souls-like, characters are customized through stats and sigils that shape weapons and spells, and NPCs react to the player's choices with favour, respect — or worse.
Key Features
- A new island every run — the world, main story and side quests are procedurally remixed each playthrough.
- Seven factions — each with their own view of the prophecy; earn favour and respect to join the one that fits your goal.
- Souls-like combat — deliberate, punishing and fair, from skeleton-filled dungeons to gargoyle fights in the open world.
- Sigil customization — shape weapons and spells to build mages, clerics, warriors and everything in between.
- Reactive stories — NPCs remember your choices; reputation opens doors or closes them.
- Low-poly world with big atmosphere — hidden temples, glowing caves and forgotten pirate bases in a striking colour palette.
History
Nether Tree Games is the one-person studio of a developer from the Netherlands making the games they want to play but that don't exist yet. Prophecy Island is the studio's first big game, inspired by current and childhood favourites alike — from Dark Souls and Fallout to Freddi Fish. A free demo launched on Steam in January 2026.
